A Month of Thanksgiving Day 25

5 years ago this past March, we buried my brother. He passed away the end of February which pushed his burial to March 1st. He was 41. Today, I'm thankful for my brother, Jake Hester. He would have been 47 on this very day. Yes, today is his birthday. Our birthdays have always been 2 weeks apart. I liked that mine was first even though he was almost 4 years older. :)

One of the perks of having an older brother were the cute guy friends he had. :) I was a tomboy and we all goofed off together. I remember skating (with our tennis shoes on) across our frozen pond one year and when a couple of people crashed and fell, the ice ended up cracking. You talk about people running off that ice. It was too funny. My dad used to drive the streets pulling a hood from a vehicle with us sitting on it on the icy roads. It was a TON of fun until he went around the corner too fast and some of the boys ended up in the neighbor's barbed wire fence. Thankfully I was not on the hood at the time. :)

Jake and I learned to drive in the "back 40" where Dad had a lot of old, junk cars. We loved going back there and driving crazy. I don't remember wrecking but I'm sure Jake did. ;) [I'm pretty sure I ran into a tree but I would have blamed it on him. lol]

So, today, Jakey-boy, thanks for the memories. I love you and miss you. I wish you were here to see all these kids I have and how awesome and amazing they are. You would be proud to see how much they've grown up. We love ya bro. :) See you soon! And tell Dad hey for me. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Days 19 & 20

Day 19: I am thankful for clean dishes. :) With as many family members that live in this house, having clean dishes, cups especially, is a challenge.

Day 20:  I am thankful for getting to babysit my neighbor's twins. I love loving on the little ones. They're so cute!!  Nate helped me feed them so I'm thankful for that too!

A Month of Thanksgiving Days 16, 17, 18

Day 16 - I'm thankful for Friday's. I look forward to every Friday even though some of them aren't the most relaxing of the week. Maybe it's because I know Saturday is next. :)
Day 17 - I'm thankful for my sexy husband. He is such a wonderful man to me. :) He works two jobs and also works on computers that we break and cars that need fixed, which saves us a ton of money.
Day 18 - I'm thankful for my warm bed and soft pillow - especially with the colder weather lately.

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 15

I am thankful today for finishing up my last review post for TOS. I have reviewed for them for many years and wasn't going to continue this past year but was chosen for their Molly Team and that was ok. However, I ended up being grouped with the whole crew and was again mixed up in the whirlwind of review products. It's hard to say no to such awesome products, all of which were free. In the end though, I know it takes away too much of my time from my family and I had to make myself not apply for the new year. I still have several companies I review for but I can be more selective with the choices before me.

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 14 UPDATE

I actually received a phone call from my precious daughter, Natalie, tonight. She made my day!! So, I'm thankful for this phone call too!! (If you are unaware, she is a missionary in Nicaragua and I haven't spoken with her recently due to her not having internet access.) She is doing well and God is using her at this new location. We are so blessed!!!

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 14

Today I'm thankful for having the money to pay for my first ticket ever for running a red light. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 13

Today is easy. I'm totally thankful that tonight three of my kids, Nathanael, Marcee, & Bethany, are performing in their end-of-semester plays. I'm looking forward to this as they've worked really hard learning their lines.

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 10, 11, & 12

Day 12: Well, it looks like today I am thankful for forgiveness since I have missed a few days of posting. So, thanks for forgiving me. :)

Now, to backtrack....

Day 10: I am thankful for carpet cleaner since my daughter's dog keeps having accidents on my carpets. :/
Day 11: I am definitely thankful for my parents for this day as it's my birthday. My mom had in interesting pregnancy with me and I'd like to share it with you.

It all started in October 1968. My mom and dad were elated to be expecting a baby. Their first baby together. They both had sons from previous marriages and were anxious to have a baby of their own. Mom's doctor confirmed she was pregnant and she was informed her due date was July 1969. Months passed and things didn't progress like they should have. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary so they continued forward. However, for whatever reason, God chose to take that baby home and allow my folks to get me instead. I was not born until November. So, my mom was pregnant for 13 months. I know God has a purpose for me to be here. I do look forward to meeting my sister or brother one day though and thank Him for giving me life.

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 9

I am thankful for Wesley's (my younger son) sense of humor. He got his hair cut yesterday and proceeded to display his "awesomeness" for myself and the beautician. Yes, he cracks me up. I love his smile too. And his hugs. Although sometimes he hugs me just to annoy me. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 7 & Day 8

Day 7 I was thankful for the election being over. Now it's time to pray, pray, pray for God to lead our president and for him to FOLLOW Christ!

Day 8 I am thankful for getting to go out on a date with hubs. I'm going to go eat a yummy steak at Texas Roadhouse. Can't wait. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 6

I am thankful for my friend, Amber, giving me the spare set of keys to Nate's car we bought from her a while back. Seems they were hiding from her. :)

I'm also thankful for my oldest daughter, Hannah, and my mom, Janie. They love me so much and don't want me to get hurt (emotionally) from the things going on my life. I am so blessed to have people in my life that love me and want to protect me. I love family. :)

I'm also thankful that Election Day 2012 is here and we'll soon know who our president will be.

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 5

Today I am thankful for a couple of things. Actually, I'm usually thankful for many things but I can narrow this post down to two easily so you can get on with your reading. :)

One - I am thankful for God's timing. Today, my daughter, Courtney, was at the right place at the right time and she learned of a job opportunity. She's worked for a local restaurant for over a year without a raise and this other job starts out a few dollars more per hour. For someone who wants to get out on their own, she needs more income. Thankfully she listened to the conversations around her and responded.

Two - I am thankful for God's guiding. A friend shared her testimony at our ladies meeting tonight and I had no idea the things she has been through. What she realized was that although her past was painful, God put people in her life to point her to Christ during that time.

I wonder what I'll be thankful for tomorrow. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 4

Today I am thankful for laughter. My youngest daughter, Bethany, made me laugh today. It felt good. I've had a lot of stress lately and laughing was a great way to let things go. My husband, Tom, also made me laugh. It's fun living in a house with laughter. I can't imagine not having it. Again, God is good. :)

A Month of Thanksgiving Day 1, 2, & 3

I just saw a friend post her status on Facebook that mentions what she's thankful for and the title was "A Month of Thanksgiving" and I thought I should jump up on that bandwagon and start too. I'm 2 days late as today is 11/3, but I'll just go ahead and add what I know I was thankful for on November 1st and 2nd and finish with what I'm thankful for today. So, without further ado...

A Month of Thanksgiving

Day 1 - I am thankful for my son, Nathanael, doing so well in Chemistry.

Day 2 - I am thankful for my daughter, Natalie, serving in Nicaragua. I will say that I'm going to have to figure out a way to talk to her more frequently. Apparently where she is they don't want her to be on the internet and that's just not cutting it for me. I need to get updates. :)

Day 3 - I am thankful for having a good garage sale with my oldest daughter, Hannah. We're working on saving up to buy plane tickets to go visit some friends in Virginia. I'm also thankful that my daughter, Calli, as she completed her SAT today.
