From Bro. Marc

I Don’t Live There Anymore

The post on a Facebook page said “Don’t judge me by my past, I don’t live there anymore”. That is a great description of the forgiveness of God.

The forgiveness of God is complete. Once forgiven, our sins are remembered no more. God is anxious to forgive us but we are often not so eager to forgive. It is the duty of Christians to forgive others as God has forgiven them. Do we have the right to ask God to forgive us if we do not forgive others? Their sins against us are not greater than our sins against God. The lack of forgiveness is too great a burden to bear. It harbors sorrow and bitterness. To forgive is to be lifted from these burdens.

Since God has forgiven you it is also important that you forgive yourself. If you do not forgive yourself you will continue to pay a high price for your sins. David prayed for forgiveness of his sins then went on about the business about being king over Israel. Forgiveness helps us get on with life.

Life is too short to spend with a unforgiving spirit. Let loose of the agony of sorrow and bitterness. Have a forgiving spirit.

The Wit and Philosophy of I.M. Hipp: The most beneficial asset to a forgiving spirit is a short memory.
