Words....Actions....Helpful or Hurtful?

I was given some information today about someone who has been heartbroken over someone else's words and actions and just wanted to spend a few minutes on my blog sharing with you and getting your feedback.

When someone wears clothes that you don't particularly like, do you tell them that you don't like it? Now, I'm not talking about anything offensive here, just normal clothes. Nothing revealing or inappropriate, just not to your liking. If you do tell them, why? You're not wearing those particular clothes. Why does it matter? If you don't, why do you keep silent?

If someone you know has a haircut that you don't particularly like, do you make fun of them? Do you say things like "that's ugly" or "you look ridiculous" even if your opinion hadn't been asked?

I guess my question to you is, why do some people make it their goal in life to put others down? What's the big deal if someone has a haircut that you don't like? It's not your hair. Can't you find something positive to say? I guess I was taught "if you can't say nothin' nice, then don't say nothin' at all" but not everyone was.

As Christians we should be building each other up, not tearing them down. This world is tough enough on everyone without those who profess to love Christ berate other believers.

Also, what about those who you might think are a little "weird". Just because someone is quiet and reserved doesn't make them weird. Maybe they just need a friend. A real one. Not some fake friend who talks about them behind their backs.

Thanks for listening to my rant. :)
